Shuttle bus for TankFest

After seeing hundreds turn up at Wool Station for TankFest at the Tank Museum last year, we resolved to see if we could persuade the Museum to run a shuttle bus in 2016 for the 2.4 mile journey. I'm pleased to say that they have just contracted First to run the service (numbered 55 - the timetable is on their website under "proposed changes" for Dorset). What clinched the deal was our offer to part fund the service thanks to some Community Rail funding from South West Trains. So, if Tanks are your thing, come and have a noisy day out in Dorset on 25 or 26 June!

First had previously announced that they will be running a daily service ("X55") from Weymouth to the Tank Museum via Lulworth Cove and Wool Station from 28 May to 4 Sept, so there's another excuse for a trip to Dorset! Also Go Ahead has announced a service branded "Breezer 30" which will run between Weymouth and Swanage via Lulworth and Wool from 25 June, so don't be surprised if you see a queue of double deckers at Wool Station bus stop this summer. The famed "Jurassic Coaster" bus route (First X52/X53/X54) covering Poole to Exeter also calls at Wool Station!

First ran the TankFest shuttle No 55 again in 2017 without subsidy, and they also ran it on two other event days. So the service now has wheels of its own!
