Men's Sheds and planters on stations

  • October 23, 2015 11:44 AM BST

Just saw this great post from the guys at Three Rivers Planter Project 3 Rivers about some new planters they have just installed in Eastleigh and it occured to me that a lot of TOCs are probably sourcing tubs for stations from generic suppliers with the wood coming from who knows where etc. Wouldn't it be great if we could all support a great organisation such as Men's Sheds http://menssheds.org.uk/  who can make all sorts of things such as plants, bug hotels, bird boxes etc instead?

Hi Rebecca - sounds a good idea but we have just been helping to install some recycled plastic planters on two stations up here int' north similar to the one in the photo at Whalley. Whilst we would heartily recommend everyone to use ARK to supply recycled plastic products, the problem would be that delivery (outside of Lancashire) would most likely be more than the cost of the planter.

very nice Simon, but like you say a bit pricey to get it all the way from oop north! I'll see if there's a down south version of ARK.
